Authorities
launched a search on Thursday after two passengers were found missing overnight
off of Australia’s eastern coast. The people who were found missing are a 30
year old man and a 26 year old woman when the Carnival Cruise ship docked in Sydney
Thursday morning. The first clue to them missing was that they didn’t claim
their luggage. Police, who have examined a video, believe that the couple went
overboard 93 miles of off Foster, New South Wales. The couple, that went
missing, were sharing a cabin and traveling with their family and friends on a
10 day Pacific Island Cruise. Even though there is a 135 mile distance from
where they are believed to have fallen overboard to Sydney the police have remained
optimistic and are pulling out all stops to retry to find these people.
Even
though there was a decently long and dangerous fall and that they are far away
from the location the passengers were last seen, it is good that the police are
still optimistic. If I was put in the families shoes I would be very terrified
and afraid for my loved ones but I think that them staying positive is a very
good thing. I also believe that the couple can be found and I think that even
though it’s a far distance they still somehow made it through that dangerous
experience. It also didn’t point out in the story if the couple were friends or
married or just in a relationship. It is not that much of a big deal but it
made me curious if that somehow had to do with them going overboard if they
were in a fight or something else that could have caused them to go missing
during their cruise. But I do believe that they are a good chance that they
made it through.
